Abstract: Think about your family members. Think about all the ways you communicate with them. Mobile phone, skype, email, facebook, twitter and yes sometimes even face-to-face! With all the plethora of available media is there any room for new media addressing communication needs of families and friends? In this talk I will present research projects on the field of Awareness Systems, in which researchers are pushing the boundaries of media and exploring new and innovative ways of communication between people.

Co-presenting and a demo at The Web and Beyond 2010 the work we did with Nynke Spijksma at the Marina de Wolf Centrum to support patients with obsessive compulsion disorder. We developed a mobile phone application with which patients could log their daily repetitive behaviors while through the same application their therapist could remotely support the patients. View a short video showing the protype we used.

For kicking off my post-doc project I organized a workshop on 29th of June 2009, with participants from Philips research, SUSA group, TNO, User Intelligence, London School of Economics and IOP-MMi Senter, the sponsors of my project. I gave the following position presentation on the state of the art for Experience Sampling tools. Moreover i prepared a booklet for the event.
